Jeep Unveils New Grand Cherokee Plug-in Hybrid to Release in 2022
Following the success of their introduction into the electric vehicle market with the 2021 Wrangler 4xe, Jeep is adding a new electric model to their 2022 lineup, the Grand Cherokee 4xe. The new Cherokee model sheds a fresh take on SUV’s, straying away from their gas-reliant nature to green-focused in an effort to advance with the environment in mind. Despite being a green version of the brand’s stapel Grand Cherokee model, it does not stray in providing exquisite detail throughout the interior and a crisp, modern exterior.
Not only does the energy-efficient 4xe maintain a physically striking presence, but packs some power to boot. The Grand Cherokee 4xe features two electric motors, a 400-volt battery pack along with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Such a combination ultimately yields a force of 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. When fully charged, the 4xe provides 440 miles of driving range with an expected 25 miles of solely electric driving before engaging in the hybrid mode. Being that Jeep vehicles are designed to tackle endless off-road conditions, the Grand Cherokee 4xe is able to ford water up to 24 inches deep.
Not falling short in providing advanced and personalized details throughout, the 4xe model delivers their traditional two-row seating option with safe-driving capabilities such as collision warning, active braking protection, and a night vision camera. In addition, the Grand Cherokee features an Integrated Dual Charging mode, combining a battery charger and DC/DC converter in one unit. That along with a reduced in scale Power Inverter Module are both mounted under the body of the hybrid with protected steel shields.
Jeep didn’t hold back when it came to fully equipping the Grand Cherokee with endless technological features to enhance the overall driving experience. From passenger screen and rear seat entertainment to a 10.1-inch touchscreen with phone connectivity and a top-of-the-line McIntosh sound system, the Grand Cherokee 4xe successfully delivers energy-efficient power with luxury SUV features.
Jeep has yet to reveal specific pricing for the Grand Cherokee 4xe, however it is expected that sales of the model will begin in late 2021 with the SUVs making their physical appearance on dealer’s lots in 2022. Be sure to keep a close eye on this model’s release, for its cutting edge hybrid design and technology will be sure to flourish in the evolving world of electric vehicles.
